Company Profile

Growing up as a youth with family boating and aviation in Hawkes Bay and Taupo, its not surprising that Trev Terry ended up spending a large part of his working life involved with boating, and aircraft.

During 1974 Trevor became Manager of the Taupo branch of Plylite Marine.

These early years of boating in NZ saw the development of GRP boats as the plywood kitset boats started to be replaced by the production lines of 4 or 5 major manufacturers.

Plylite Marine was later to become part of the Boat City group and Trevor had responsibility for the Rotorua Branch as well as Taupo and the business kept growing. Boat City purchased Ridleys Boatshed, another Taupo marine business and this brought an expansion of franchises including Yamaha. Boat City now had Johnson, Evinrude, Yamaha and Suzuki outboard motors and boating was booming.

1989 Trevor decided to move on and with wife and partner Diane, moved down the road 4 doors to a grass yard, caravan for the office and a single car shed for maintenance. Over night, a sign went up and Trev Terry Marine Ltd became a part of the local marine industry.  Almost 1 year later the Boat City group suffered with a downturn due to the stock market crash, and closed shop. Trev and Diane moved Trev Terry Marine back into the larger premises and with the help of some great friends, the business grew.

Today, 34 years later, the business is still moving foward and helping Taupos boating community stay on the water. The company philosophy is based around service, integrity and friendly assistance.

Trev and Diane remain as Directors.
