Taupo Fishing Report

FLY AND GUN
Lake fishing is still going well for those that brave the elements, and to most methods, we seem to be having now what you would normally expect at the end of summer, good numbers and some great conditioned fish, not big but excellent quality.
The rivers have all got fish in them now after this weekend’s rain but you would have to say it’s still not firing as such , a few anglers have said it’s been awesome and they have had great sport , others have found it quite hard , take into account the rivers have been very high and with fluctuating levels so it would be hard to really gauge it until it all settles, general consensus is they are there but you may have to work and move around a bit to find them, I think we all got spoilt over the last two or three winters and are now being reminded of just how fickle a wild fishery can be.
Hopefully it is just a case of the runs happening late, you don’t have to cast your memory too far back since we were waiting for the middle of July for the winter fishery to really start firing.
More rain forecast this week hopefully not too much as it would be nice to get on the rivers with a nice steady level for a while so we can ascertain how they are really performing for the start of July.
Tight lines all till next week
