The Fyran 490 – A great all-round alloy runabout

The Fyran 490 – Another fine alloy model brought to you by Fyran Boats, Kiwi owned and operated the company was originally formed by two friends, Trevor Fyfe and Graeme Ranson in 1969 when they decided to purchase a welding machine and design their first dinghy out of a shed in South Auckland.

Measuring just over 5m in overall length, the 490 is an ideal investment if you are a skier, diver, or recreational fisherman. An alloy hull allows it to be lightweight and easily handled, but becomes a sensible choice for low maintenance, trouble-free boating.

A great fishing rig with plenty of open floor space is one aspect to the 490, accompanied by 6x rod holders for you and your fishing buddies to place their rods. The open layout with side seating allows for space to be utilized onboard and easy bow access to the anchor and capstan through the split windscreen to make anchoring effortless.

This package is topped off with a repower on the outboard, now equipped with a 2019 Yamaha 70hp 4 stroke (only 8 hours clocked ) which is economical but also provides excellent performance and reliability to get you to your favourite fishing spots and back. Do not forget about the bimini top on this 490, a luxury to any boat with protection from the sun and wind.

All in all the Fyran 490 is one tidy package, easily towed and stored, but all for an affordable price. Come and find your happy place today.
