Introducing this monumental piece of local boating history, with the Victory 40-foot Bridgedeck Launch
When it comes to boats, you have the modern and then you have the retro, the Victory without a doubt is retro, with a classic look that is elegant yet still timeless.
Victory was designed and built in Taupo back in the late 1930s by Boat Builder, Jack Taylor in his workshop in Nukuhau, Taupo.
At just over 40-foot in length, the Victory is a vessel built to accommodate a large crew with all its creature comforts on-board. Capable of taking up to 24 passengers, with accommodation for 6 to 8 people.
The main engine featured is a late 1960s Ford, Diesel 80hp 4-cylinder, providing a cruise speed of approx. 8 knots at 2100RPM.
From 1939 to roughly 1973, Victory was used as a commercial charter boat by Jack and his two sons. She remained within the family until 1982 when she was purchased by another Taupo resident. Over the years, Victory has seen a series of upgrades and modifications over the time, but all within the keeping of the classic style of this boat.
Rarely do you get the opportunity to get your hands on something as special as this. Built with classic craftsmanship and rich in History, this old girl just commands respect and you will reminisce while on the water as you just drift back in time and absorb all the tales of trips past that are etched into this timeless classic.
