Thunder on the great lake

Thunder on the Great lake is back on Lake Taupo for over 45 Year’s running.

Part of the New Zealand Offshore power boat racing events.

Sunday 23rd October from 1pm.

The 1st race revving up at 1pm and the 2nd race starting at 2pm.

If you live in Taupo and haven’t seen them then no doubt you may have heard them out there on the water.

you can spectate from the shores of 2 Mile Bay or get even closer to the action out on the water watching from your boat in the specified areas safely.

Classes running this year are Superboat 600 which is 2x 300hp

Superboat 400 which is 2 x 200hp

These classes are closed canopy boats

Sports 80mph no engine restriction but max speed of 80mph

Sports 70mph no engine restriction but max speed of 70mph

These classes are open boats no canopy
